Swing for Buggy The Problem A four year old girl sustained a complete spinal cord lesion in a road traffic accident. She is unable to sit in a swing and also uses ventilation equipment continually. This must operate in a level surface to avoid cutting out. The Solution A swing was constructed from a plywood platform on a steel tubing supporting structure. A plywood ramp was hinged to one end to allow the buggy to be wheeled onto the platform. Hooks were fixed to secure the buggy and a chain and lock provided to prevent unsupervised use of the swing. The Benefits This child can succeed in using a swing.
