Camera Aid
A women was severely injured in a car accident resulting in paralysis
of her legs and right arm. Her left arm is very weak and has only
limited movement.
Her
fingers lack sensation and control and are of very little use to her. She operates
her wheelchair joystick with the palm of her hand. She wanted to be able to
return to her hobby of photography by having a digital camera mounted from
the right hand arm-rest of her wheelchair and equipped so that she can operate
it in some way, other than by hand. The solution involved making a rectangular
housing for the camera from 16 guage aluminium plate and equipped
with circular rubber bellows. These could be expanded or contracted by blowing
through narrow plastic tubing.
